MEET THE COACHES

U13A - HEAD COACH

A lifelong multi-sport athlete, she spent the majority of her 12-year softball career with the Warriors, earning multiple provincial medals and competing at both the Western and National Championships. Beyond softball, she competed in basketball, volleyball, and just about any other sport she could find, earning multiple athletic awards and scholarships along the way.

After receiving opportunities to pursue both softball and volleyball at the post-secondary level, life ultimately took her in a different direction. That experience has become an important part of who she is as a coach and has fuelled her passion for helping young athletes understand and pursue the different pathways available to continue playing softball at the university level.

She naturally returned to the Warriors as a coach at the U15 and U17 levels and as an instructor with the Warrior Development Program. She now brings that experience to ECP, an elite development program for U13–U19 athletes, and is excited to coach at the U13 level for the 2027 season, helping develop the next generation of athletes. 

Her background in athlete development is complemented by a Teaching Degree, BA in Psychology, Early Childhood Education, and Personal Training Certification, giving her a strong understanding of how young athletes learn, develop, and build confidence.

Known for creating a positive, energetic, and encouraging training environment, she believes athletes can be challenged to work hard while still loving the game. Her goal is to develop confident, hardworking athletes who are willing to push themselves and embrace the grind—both on and off the field.

U13A - ASSISTANT COACH

Blaire spent 13 years playing with the Edmonton Warriors, helping the team earn 7 Provincial Gold, 4 Provincial Silver, and 1 Provincial Bronze medal. She began her collegiate career pitching for NJCAA Division I Seward County Community College, where she went 15–0 in conference play during her first season, before finishing her collegiate career at Friends University in Wichita, Kansas.

Blaire continues to hold a place in the Seward County Saints pitching record book, ranking 5th all-time in wins (33), strikeouts (163), games pitched (55), and innings pitched (331). She was also a two-time All-Star during her collegiate career.

Following her playing career, Blaire transitioned into coaching with the Edmonton Warriors at both the U17 and U19 levels, helping lead teams to multiple provincial medals and appearances at Nationals. She has also continued to work with athletes as a softball instructor with ECP and 222’s, sharing her knowledge and experience with players at various stages of their development.

Blaire is now moving to the U13 level with the Edmonton Warriors for the 2027 season, where she is excited to help build the next generation of Warriors athletes. Her coaching focuses not only on strong fundamentals and pitching development, but also on building confidence, competitiveness, and a lasting love for the game. 

Outside of softball, Blaire is a Social Worker. Her professional background, combined with her experience as a high-level athlete, instructor, and coach, contributes to a supportive and athlete-centred coaching approach focused on helping young athletes grow both on and off the field.

U15A - HEAD COACH

Brenley has a Master's in Health Education from the University of Alberta. She is currently a Professor at the University of Alberta teaching Dental Hygiene. 

Brenley played for the Edmonton Warriors in her minor and adult career. She is one of Alberta’s top elite softball players with a proven track record. Brenley has won Gold in 3 National Championships receiving all-star player awards throughout her minor and adult softball career. Brenley was very successful as a left-handed pitcher throughout her minor career and moved to the outfield at the junior level resulting in many defensive & offensive awards. She retired her softball career after the 2019 season ending as a Calahoo Erins Player.  

She has enjoyed giving back to the sport back at ground zero and has had a strong influence in player development in the minor category over the last few seasons coaching with the Edmonton Warriors at the U13 & U15 level.  

Her coaching philosophy is to create a positive, supportive environment where every player feels valued, challenged and confident. She believes in teaching strong fundamentals, teamwork, respect, resilience and love of the game.  Success is measured not only by wins but by the growth of each player, both as an athlete and a person.  

Brenley was also selected by Softball Canada to participate as a player & instructor for the Beyond the White Lines mission in Uganda.

U15A - ASSISTANT COACH

Cheyenne is currently a graduate of the University of Alberta with a BSc in Biology and Psychology.

As a past player, Cheyenne brings a strong passion for softball, player development, and building a strong team culture to the Edmonton Warriors. With 4 years of coaching experience and a background playing competitively in Alberta for 15 years, she is committed to helping athletes grow both on and off the field.

Cheyenne grew up playing her first minor years for Calahoo.

Player Highlights:

• Provincials, earned 3x gold medals and finished in top 3 for 6 seasons.
• Cheyenne transitioned to the Intermediate level, playing for St. Albert and Sherwood Park where she earned silver 2x in provincials and competed at the National level.
• Since aging out of minor sport, Cheyenne continues to play women’s softball while coaching. Last year, Cheyenne played for Alexander Rampage who placed fourth at Native Nationals.

Her coaching philosophy focuses on fundamentals, knowledge, teamwork, and building confidence in players. Cheyenne believes that every player has the ability to make a difference and aims to create an environment where athletes feel supported, challenged, and motivated to reach their full potential.

Outside of softball, Cheyenne enjoys reading, baking, spending time with family, and cheering on the Oilers!

She is pumped for another season of learning, competing, and creating great memories with the team.

U17A - HEAD COACH

Katriana Bain brings six years of collegiate softball experience and a strong passion for player development to the Warriors coaching staff. A former catcher and first baseman, Katriana competed at the JUCO DIV 1, NCAA Division I, and NCAA Division II levels. She began her collegiate career at Iowa Western Community College (NJCAA DI), where she earned First Team All-Region honours, before continuing at Oakland University (NCAA DI) and finishing her career at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (NCAA DII), where she was named First Team All-Conference. Known for her power at the plate and consistent offensive production, Katriana established herself as a reliable and competitive hitter throughout her collegiate career.

Prior to college, Katriana starred with the Lloyd Liners, winning back-to-back provincial gold medals in 2017 and 2018, and later captured a Canadian Women’s Nationals gold medal with Calahoo in 2022. Her experience competing at high levels of the game has given her a strong understanding of hitting, catching, game strategy, and the mental side of softball.

Katriana has been coaching privately for the past four years (@kbcatching) and recently completed her first full season as a team coach. During her first season, she led the U15A Storm to their best-ever Provincial finish and helped the U19A Storm earn a bronze medal at Provincials. Through both private instruction and team coaching, she has developed a reputation for creating a positive, competitive environment where athletes are challenged to grow and build confidence.

Katriana specializes in hitting and catching instruction, while bringing knowledge and experience across all areas of the game. Her coaching focuses on developing strong fundamentals, softball IQ, confidence, mental toughness, and a genuine love for the game. She is passionate about helping athletes reach their potential both on and off the field and is excited to continue giving back to the sport that has played such a major role in her life.

U19A - HEAD COACH

With 15 years of coaching experience at the U14–U19 levels, he has established a strong track record of developing athletes and building successful, competitive teams. He is the founder of the ECP Training Program, created to provide athletes with high-level training and development opportunities.

His coaching accomplishments include:

• Back-to-back Provincial Championships, including 2026
• Bronze Medal at the 2026 National Championships
• 4 National Championship appearances
• 3 Top-10 finishes at Nationals
• 3 Western Championship appearances
• 3rd-place finish at the Canada Cup
• Coach of the Year (2017)

Season after season, he has created teams that trusts one another, competes for one another, and grown into a proven contender at the provincial and national levels.

LADIES - HEAD COACH 

Alan Gombos is a Director with the Warriors Association and currently serves as Head Coach of the Senior Ladies team. A Level 2 Certified Coach with more than 30 years of fastball coaching experience, Alan has coached athletes at all levels.

He began coaching in the NEZ program, working with players as young as seven, before progressing to the Warriors in the years that followed. After coaching with various organizations throughout his career, Alan returned to the Warriors several years ago, bringing with him decades of experience, leadership, and a strong commitment to player development.
